the following :-
* Never cross your legs for long periods while you are sitting down

* Take regular exercise
Exercise is an excellent way of improving the blood circulation in your body. Gentle exercise for the legs,
such as walking or keep fit, is ideal. Jogging, aerobics or other forms of high-impact exercise may not be
so beneficial.
You can exercise your legs even when you are sitting down: perform a circling motion with your foot from
the ankle, then stretch your legs forward and lower them, repeating this several times.
Wearing suitable footwear for exercising, place the soles of your feet on the floor and raise your heels so
that you are standing on tiptoe; slowly lower your feet until they are back in the original position. Do this 20
times, repeating the set of 20 exercises 3 times.
* Raise your legs while resting
Rest with your legs raised (support them on a chair) for at least 10 minutes each day.
* Change your position frequently
Try to avoid either being on your feet or sitting in the same position for long periods.
* Avoid excessive cold and heat
Cooling (freshening up) your legs regularly is a good way of keeping them healthy. Douse your legs with
cool water, morning and evening, rubbing from the ankles upwards.
* Eat a healthy diet which does not encourage weight gain
Being overweight may put greater pressure on your legs, making it more difficult for the blood to return to
the heart. Avoid eating too much salt. Eat a high-fibre diet.
