Adults, the elderly and children over 12 years: Take 1 x 5ml spoonful. Repeat after 4 hours if required, but not more than 4 doses in 24 hours. 

 

Do not give to children under 12 years old, unless your doctor tells you to.

 

DO NOT EXCEED THE STATED DOSE. If symptoms persist for more than 7 days consult a doctor.

 

Before You Use This Medicine

 

Do not use this medicine if you have

*An allergy to any of the ingredients

*Heart problems

*Liver or kidney disease

*Shallow breath or breathing difficulties

*A head injury or persistent headache

*An asthma attack

*Taken MAOI (Monoamine Oxidase Inhibitors) for depression within the last two weeks

*Alcoholism

 

Talk to your doctor or pharmacist if

*An underactive thyroid

*An adrenal hormone imbalance

*Bowel problems or blockage

*Prostate trouble

*Muscle weakness

*Shock

*Low blood pressure

*General tiredness

*Are elderly, as elderly people can react differently to the medicine

 

Talk to your doctor or pharmacist of you are taking

*Metoclopramide or domperidone for nausea and sickness

*Mexilitene for irregular heartbeat

*Tranquilisers, antidepressants, sedatives or sleeping tablets

*Spironolactone or other water tablets for fluid retention

*Steroids

*Amphotericin for fungal infections

*Rifampicin for tuberculosis

*Antacids

*Carbenoxelone for stomach ulcers

*Propantheline for stomach spasms and incontinence

*Sodium polystyrene sulphonate for excessive levels of potassium in the blood

*Phenobarbital for epilepsy

 

Pregnant & Breastfeeding

 

Ask your doctor or pharmacist for advise before using this medicine if you are pregnant, might be pregnant or are breastfeeding. Gee’s Linctus should not be used in pregnancy unless your doctor has told you to do so.

 

Driving and Using Machines

 

This medicine may cause drowsiness. If you are affected do not drive or operate machinery

 

If you accidentally take too much, see a doctor straight away. Take the pack with you to show which medicine has been swallowed.

 

Do not use after the expiry date. The expiry date refers to the last day of that month. Return any unused medicine to the pharmacy for disposal.

 

Important Ingredient Information

 

This product contains 1.4mg of sucrose per 5ml. This should be taken into account by people with diabetes. If you have been told by your doctor that you have an intolerance to some sugars, contact your doctor before taking this medicine. It also contains 22% vol ethanol (alcohol), i.e. up to 869mg per dose, equivalent to 22ml of beer or 9ml of wine per dose. Harmful for those suffering from alcoholism. To be taken into account in pregnant or breastfeeding women, children and high-risk groups such as people with liver disease or epilepsy. The amount of alcohol in this medicinal product may alter the effect of other medicines.

 

Possible Side Effects

 

Like all medicines, Gee’s Linctus can have side effects, although these don’t affect everyone.

 

Possible side effects are: Nausea, sickness, constipation, drowsiness, confusion, loss of appetite, diarrhoea, stomach pain, shortage of breath, difficulty in urinating, skin itching and flushing, rash, low blood pressure. Prolonged use may lead to tolerance (the medicine uses its effect) and dependence. If you notice these or any other side effects, stop use and tell your doctor or pharmacist. They will tell you what to do.
